Jobs and Education Program for the Rodríguez Gang Injunction Curfew Settlement

Job Training and Education Program
The City of Los Angeles is funding a Job Training and Readiness Program available exclusively to Settlement Class Members in the case of “Rodríguez vs. City of Los Angeles.”

The program, administered by the Economic and Workforce Development Department, will allow class members to take advantage of job training services preparing them to enter the workforce, apprenticeship programs for jobs in today’s economy, as well as vocational and job training opportunities to connect them with available employment in high demand industries.

The program will be reviewed annually by a third-party evaluator from the California State University of Northridge to ensure it is providing appropriate services to class members.

The program is exclusively for the approximately 6,000 Settlement Class Members. Class members who are unable to participate in the program, or who do not have a need for this program, may transfer said benefit to a close relative (i.e. child, parent, sibling, or spouse).

All eligible class members will be pre-approved through a court designated claims administrator. Class members will be eligible for training and education stipends up to $1,000, pursuant to the completion of education and training milestones, and up to 400 hours of subsidized employment at the City’s minimum hourly wage for participants lacking a work history.

Program participants will receive career counseling, case management, support services, employment readiness, vocational training and education, training and education stipends, subsidized employment, employment services, and tattoo removal services through 22 contracted job assistance centers from the WorkSource Center System and the Los Angeles Regional Initiative for Social Enterprise (LA:RISE).
