Parent La’Kima James (left) looks on as her daughter Reniyjah Clark fills out an application for the Hire LA’s Youth program
EWDD unveiled another social media video Monday July 15, 2019 across its @LAEWDD Instagram, Twitter and Facebook account. This week’s video provides a tour of the South LA YouthSource Center located at Southwest College, the first YSC site to be co-located with an America’s Job Center of California at a Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) campus.

Operated by EWDD partner Archdiocesan Youth Employment (AYE), the center represents a partnership between EWDD, the Los Angeles County Department of Workforce Development, Aging and Community Services and the LACCD as part of a larger effort to create a centralized location for youth and job seekers to find services and provide easier access to higher education.

Featured in the video is Hire LA’s youth participant Reniyjah Clark.

“I will be putting most of the money into buying new clothes and books for high school. Also, paying for my bus transportation because it’s very far and expensive,” she said.

Reniyjah plans to attend Palisades High School this fall. Her mother La’Kima James said the South LA YouthSource Center provides local youth resources that help them rise above the challenges they face in their daily lives.

“In this area, they need it,” she said. “There’s a lot of you know, things that we wake up to. It could be a challenge to get up and to operate during the day. These opportunities are golden.”
