Monique was laid off from LAX DHL through AEROTEK during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In partnership with Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), EWDD held a series of virtual Rapid Response sessions to assist employees who were impacted by the mass layoffs at LAX due to the pandemic. The sessions offered guidance to former employees on how to navigate filing for unemployment and connect them with vocational training opportunities to learn a new trade.

The program eased some of her financial worries by providing Monique assistance with gas, groceries and rent. Monique said that the Rapid Response Training program and guidance toward services she received was a “mental health breather” for her.

“Support has been better than a stimulus check, because the money goes exactly where it needs to be every time.”
