Promotoras de Salud, COVID-19 education and community response outreach team
The Southeast Valley WorkSource Center (WSC) utilized funding from the Los Angeles Community Care Corp (LACCC) program to build a healthcare education community outreach team, which provided job opportunities to individuals who lost their jobs due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Southeast Valley WSC, overseen by EWDD contractor EL Proyecto del Barrio, created Promotoras de Salud, a COVID-19 education and community response outreach team.

LA COMMUNITY CARE CORP (LACCC) SUCCESS STORY

In partnership with Mission Community Hospital, the LACCC funding provided the opportunity to recruit and train the team, which reached 24,000 individuals and more than 700 businesses in the densely populated communities surrounding the San Fernando Valley hospital. During the 30 days the new community COVID education and support team were in the field, local infection rates dropped by two percent, according to figures from the El Proyecto del Barrio and Mission Community Hospital partnership.

LA Community Care Corp Funds Jobs For Unemployed Angelenos
In partnership with the Mayor’s Office, Council District Offices and Community Build, Inc., EWDD’s 16 WorkSource Centers implemented the Los Angeles Community Care Corp (LACCC) program to provide job opportunities to individuals who lost their jobs due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Participants were connected with job opportunities related to COVID-19 relief and recovery efforts. They were offered jobs that paid $22 per hour up to 200 paid hours, providing much-needed financial assistance during the holiday season. The transitional employment roles supported COVID-19 emergency response and humanitarian efforts.
