Rafael Gonzalez with his Reseda based food truck, Birria del Valle
The West Valley BusinessSource Center provided extensive business services to Rafael Gonzalez, helping him launch his “Birria del Valle” lunch truck, which has continued to thrive during the COVID-19 pandemic.

West Valley BSC business coach Marlen Lara provided Rafael guidance on how to obtain the permits required in order to operate a lunch truck business, along with information about LA County Department of Public Health insurance requirements.

With assistance from the West Valley BSC, operated by EWDD contractor Managed Career Solutions (MCS), Rafael successfully applied for the required health permits and insurance. The BSC also advised Rafael on his sales strategies in order to build a clientele, which include parking regularly at the same spot and building a social media following.

The success of the food truck has allowed Rafael to create two additional jobs. He was able to hire his wife as a cashier and his sister-in-law as a cook.

The Birria del Valle lunch truck business is located in Reseda in Council District 3.
