The Central/West Region BusinessSource Center (BSC) helped Mr. M. successfully obtain a sidewalk vending permit for his fresh fruit business.

A decade after starting his business, Mr. M. attended a City of Los Angeles Sidewalk and Park Vendor Permit Program orientation at the Central/West BSC, where a business counselor assisted him through the permit application process from start to finish.

It was a complex multi-step process, with additional delays due to COVID-19 and the tax season. As part of the permit requirements, Mr. M. also needed to acquire his Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN). With help from business counselor Mr. M. was able to process his ITIN request and submit it to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

After receiving his ITIN in the mail, Mr. M. worked with his business counselor to apply for the Los Angeles Business Tax Registration Certificate (BTRC), California State Seller’s Permit and then successfully completed the Streets LA Sidewalk Vending application.

“I have peace now,” he said.
