Virtual Job Readiness workshops for USC interns
EWDD partner Para Los Niños (PLN) recently placed 50 youth in a paid internship with the University of Southern California (USC). PLN is an EWDD contractor that oversees the Northeast LA and the Central Los Angeles/Westlake YouthSource Centers.

Over the next four weeks, these 50 youth will participate in 120 hours of job readiness workshops and sessions facilitated by USC, including sessions with the Public Health program at the USC Keck Department of Preventative Medicine, USC Annenberg School of Communications, USC Viterbi School of Engineering and USC School of Dramatic Arts.

Hire LA’S Youth – Gaining Work Experience During COVID-19

Another 35 youth will be placed at Cal State LA on July 20th and four HIRE LA’S Youth interns will be supporting Para Los Niños schools throughout Los Angeles. The students will also be creating a portfolio, which will include a resume and a personal statement that they can use when they apply to college.

Hire LA’s Youth is a youth employment initiative led by the Office of Mayor Eric Garcetti. This year's Hire LA's Youth program is offering virtual and in-person jobs for Los Angeles youth ages 14 - 24.

All COVID-19 safety protocols will be followed at in-person job sites.
