The Valley Economic Development Center (VEDC) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Tuesday July 2, 2019. VEDC operated two BusinessSource Centers in the San Fernando Valley, the North Valley region center located in Pacoima and the West Valley region center located in Reseda. These two locations are currently closed.

The Economic and Workforce Development Department (EWDD) is taking all steps necessary to keep impact on VEDC BusinessSource Center clients at a minimum.

EWDD’s Rapid Response Team will be providing business transition services to VEDC staff affected by the closures.

RESOURCES FOR VEDC CLIENTS

Former VEDC clients can visit the South Valley Region BusinessSource Center, operated by EWDD partner ICON (Initiating Change in Our Neighborhoods), during this transitory period.

EWDD also has 7 other BusinessSource Centers located throughout the LA region available to assist clients. For more information and to find other locations, please visit the EWDD BusinessSource Centers page.

NEXT STEPS

EWDD will be issuing a Request for Information/Interest (RFI) to the City’s current BusinessSource delivery system to select the replacement operator(s). EWDD anticipates having a replacement operator in place by July 31st.
