Job seekers have a new resource in Boyle Heights today, where city officials helped open the 14th of 17 job centers being made over as part of a citywide $36 million effort. The Boyle Heights/East Los Angeles WorkSource Center at 1505 East First Street, offers training and resources, such as telephones, fax machines, copiers and computers with Internet access.

South LA WorkSource Center Grand Re-Opening Ribbon Cutting
The two centers held their ribbon cutting and grand re-opening ceremonies on back to back days.

The first celebration was the Watts Los Angeles WorkSource Center operated by the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) on November 19, 2014. Located in the Imperial Courts in Watts, this is the only housing authority in the US with a fully certified WorkSource Center.

Vernon-Central L.A./L.A. Trade Tech WorkSource Center Grand Opening
Mayor Eric Garcetti today presided over the grand opening of the EWDD WorkSource Center located at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College. The center is one of 17 located throughout the city that will focus on developing career pathways in high-demand employment sectors including healthcare, advanced manufacturing, hospitality, construction, financial services, transportation/logistics, and green technology.

The California Competes Tax Credit is an income tax credit available to businesses that want to come to California or stay and grow in California. Tax credit agreements will be negotiated by GO-Biz and approved by a statutorily created

State Enterprise Zone (SEZ) Program
The SEZ Program has Ended. Hiring tax credit vouchers will be accepted and processed through December 31, 2014.

California state legislative action has resulted in the repeal of the Enterprise Zone Act and the dissolution of Enterprise Zones. In order to allow Enterprise Zone businesses an opportunity to apply for hiring tax credits already earned for qualified hires made through the end of 2013. Vouchers may be applied for and issued until December 31, 2014.
