Boyle Heights Technology YouthSource Center welcomes 80 Hire LA’s Youth 2019 summer interns
The Boyle Heights Technology YouthSource Center (YSC) launched its Hire LA’s Youth summer internship program this week with more than 80 participants.

On Monday July 15, 2019, participants were required to attend a mandatory internship prep session that taught students about workplace expectations, performance evaluations, goal setting, complaint procedures, safety, time sheet instructions and grounds for termination. All participants will be placed at a worksite intended to provide a meaningful work experience.

Internship locations include non-profit organizations, businesses in the private sector and faith-based establishments. Each intern will work 120 hours over the next six to eight weeks and earn $14.25 per hour.

The interns will report to the Boyle Heights Technology YSC, referred to as “The Tech,” every Friday for personal enrichment training.

Boyle Heights Technology YSC staff will monitor the progress of each intern, follow up with employers, conduct evaluations, and process stipend checks. A culmination event coupled with a Job/Resource Fair is scheduled for the end of August 2019.
