EWDD WorkSource Centers were recognized at City Hall this week for their involvement in the Targeted Local Hire Program
The City of Los Angeles Economic and Workforce Development Department’s 16 WorkSource Centers and two Job Portals were recognized at City Council Friday, February 23, 2018 for their efforts on the one-year anniversary of the Targeted Local Hire Program.

More than 215 people have received civil service jobs with the City of Los Angeles through the program, which is designed to help under-served and under-employed Angelenos find an alternative pathway to civil service careers at the City.

EWDD has worked closely with the City’s Personnel Department to help fill these positions, which include vocational, custodial and clerical jobs at various City departments, including the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and the Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL).

Earlier this year, the an EWDD WorkSource Portal helped a jobseeker obtain a Civil Service position at LAX through the Targeted Local Hire Program.

In fall 2017, the Vernon-Central/LATTC WorkSource Center utilized the Targeted Local Hire Program to help another jobseeker transition from housekeeping to an Administrative Assistant position with LA Public Library.
