Public Meetings to be held December 13 and 14 Seeking Public Input on Re-Procurement of Operators for the City of LA's Network of WorkSource Career Centers/America's Job Centers of California

The City of Los Angeles Economic and Workforce Development Department is conducting two public hearings to solicit public opinion on the selection of operators for the City of Los Angeles' network of job training locations called the WorkSource Centers (a Proud Partner of America's Job Centers of California). The EWDD operates 16 WorkSource Centers and three portals that serve as personal employment agencies for the City's residents and businesses. Free services include job listings, referral info, computer access, skills training, interview preparations and workshops.

EWDD invites all members of the public, nonprofit organizations, employers and businesses, and any other stakeholders to provide feedback on the WorkSource Centers, which are run by EWDD partners.

Input is welcome on how the Centers may best serve job seekers, at-risk youth, and laid-off job seekers in accessing training, job preparation services and employment opportunities.

EWDD is also seeking suggestions on how the WorkSource Centers may best serve employers and businesses in providing a pool of qualified candidates that are both prepared and trained for modern workplace needs and requirements.

The WorkSource Center network operates through an annual $20 million budget comprised of federal and state funding. The procurement process for operators is held once every four years. The procurement will be publicly advertised and open beginning in January 2018 through the Los Angeles Business Assistance Virtual Network. Successful bidders will be selected and awarded, then contracted to begin operations on July 1, 2018.
